Do you have ideas on how we should design the entrance to our new hospital building? Then we are looking for you!

The Westmead Redevelopment project team is looking for community members of all ages, cultural backgrounds and language groups across western Sydney, including former patients, carers and those who are – or have been – patients or carers of patients in the hospital, to share their ideas as the Westmead precinct is redeveloped.

Dalya Karezi, a student at Western Sydney University and the president of the Western Sydney Refugee Association, recently became a consumer representative for the Westmead Redevelopment project.

The 23-year-old from Prestons, who is pursuing a career in health, wanted to ensure the views of patients and visitors were reflected in future hospital projects.

“Western Sydney Local Health District has exponential opportunities to not only improve our healthcare system, but to create an inclusive environment where consumers and local communities are empowered and encouraged to participate in their own care,” she said.

“I think there are also potential opportunities for young people to bring their ideas, creativity and experience to help shape tomorrow’s healthcare system.”

Upcoming event on entrance design

Among the many opportunities to be involved, the Westmead Redevelopment project is looking for people to attend an upcoming workshop offering ideas about the new hospital building, including outdoor green spaces and the main foyer. The main entrance to the new hospital building includes access to Westmead Hospital and The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

On Monday, August 29, we are holding a workshop at Westmead Hospital. At the workshop, we are keen to hear your ideas about:
  • the entry to the new hospital building - both inside and outside
  • how to improve getting in and out of the main entrance
  • patient, carer and visitor spaces and facilities
  • the way people get around in the hospital

The event will run from 5:30pm – 7:30pm and will include light refreshments.

To RSVP or for more information, including venue information for the workshop please contact us.

Can’t attend the event? Share your thoughts now!

If you can’t make the above event we are still interested in your thoughts and ideas. Below are two questions to get you thinking. We would love to hear any of your thoughts on this.

  • Question 1 - In the new main entry to the hospital (which will be jointly shared with The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospital), what would make you feel welcome?
  • Question 2 - What matters most to you in the design of the new main entry to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospital?

You can send us information to us in any format. See our contact us page for our phone, fax, postal address, email and contact form. If you want to drop your information directly to us, please contact us to line up a time that works for you and our project team (map with directions to our project office).
