Designs on dementia

Making the hospital friendlier, safer and more habitable is the aim of a recent review of Westmead Hospital's facilities for older people.
Undertaken with the help of expert Professor Richard Fleming, the recent audit involved our OPERA (Older Persons Review and Assessment) and HOPE (Health care for Older Persons Earlier) teams, but the findings could be applied to any area of the hospital.
The OPERA team is now looking at making changes to their front entrance to make it less cluttered, easier to find and more welcoming.
Within the ward there have been considerations to make the ward safer through the tactful use of contrasting colours.
