We are asking you to put your thinking caps on and offer suggestions of names that celebrate the integration of this paediatric and adult unit, some ideas already have included The Common and WIPS – Westmead Integrated Perioperative Suite.

When we think of operating suites, we usually think of surgeons, nurses and anaesthetists. The new perioperative suite will be adding to the mix cardiologists (heart specialists) and radiologists (x-ray, CT & MRI) into the mix. In addition to digitally-equipped operating rooms, we will have rooms with built-in high-tech imaging equipment - x-ray, CT and MRI scanners - to help guide surgery more precisely. There is also provision for robotic surgery. We will also have specialist paediatric surgeons looking after children and infants in this high-tech environment to enable expansion of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead’s surgical program.

The winning entry will take pride of place in the new area. Be as creative and clever as you like. Submit your entries here by Monday, 13 August 2018.

The winner will be announced in the Westmead Redevelopment project update.
