Roundabout removal, parking changes on westmead's hawkesbury road
SHARE

The widening of Hawkesbury Road progresses to a new stage of works in late May in preparation for the construction and operation of Parramatta Light Rail and the Westmead Redevelopment project.

Work on Hawkesbury Road, Westmead in late May to early June will include:

•          Removal of parking lane blisters between Caroline Street and Jessie Street.

•          Removal of roundabout at the intersection of Caroline Street and Hawkesbury Road.

Work will take place from 7am-7pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on Saturday.

The removal of the roundabout will start on a Friday and be finished on Saturday to minimise any impact to the public and hospital users. The south-bound lane will be closed during the duration of works and a temporary road detour will be provided through Jessie Street to Caroline Street.

Temporary pedestrian and traffic control will be in place to ensure traffic, cyclists and pedestrians can move around the work zones safely. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

To ensure users of Hawkesbury Road are informed, Variable Message Signs will be displayed prior to the road closure.

Please follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs, and proceed carefully.

Parramatta Light Rail is one of the NSW Government’s major public transport projects, part of a record $89.7 billion infrastructure investment across the state.

Stage 1 of Parramatta Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, and is due to open in 2023.
