The refurbishment of Westmead Hospital’s IPU B6 started in August 2017 and is expected to be completed in April 2018. IPU B6 will be reinstated as an inpatient unit.
The ward will be refurbished, to provide update to some of the facilities and amenities to enable the space to be reinstated to a functioning ward. Some interior walls will move and minor demolition works will occur.
Capital works are in the process of completing a lift upgrade program for Westmead Hospital in parallel with the completion of these refurbishment works.
Site preparation has included remediation and removal of existing floor vinyl. This involves stripping off vinyl and floor grinding to remove 30 year old adhesive, so new floor vinyl can be laid.
Demolition, floor grinding and asbestos removal in preparation for core holing for drainage in late November.
