Westmead Hospital’s birthday celebrations kick off on 5 November and the Parramatta Light Rail team is getting involved.
On Tuesday 6 November, the Parramatta Light Rail Community and Engagement team will join the Westmead Redevelopment project to host an information booth as part of a week-long program to celebrate Westmead Hospital’s 40th birthday.
Members of the Parramatta Light Rail team have been working closely with Westmead Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead since 2016 to ensure the new light rail meets the needs of the area. The team regularly visits both hospitals to keep patients, carers, visitors, staff and students up-to-date with the latest news and to gather feedback for the consultation process.
Stage 1 of the Parramatta Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via Parramatta CBD and Camellia with a two-way track spanning 12 kilometres, and is expected to open in 2023.
By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.
Come and meet the friendly Parramatta Light Rail team to get the latest project information and to grab your own cardboard fold-up version of the light rail (supplies are limited – so get in quick!).
