Construction cuties on-site

The project team on-site with school visitors.

Last week, members of the Westmead Redevelopment project team, along with Multiplex, took some curious, construction-minded students from The Children’s Hospital at Westmead School to check out the exciting activity taking place on the central acute services building site.

Project director Tim Mason was on-hand with Multiplex engineers Andy Tsang and Kobi Burnett to answer questions from the kids about construction and safety.

“The kids certainly gave us a run for our money with their questions,” Tim said. “There was certainly an inquisitive enthusiasm in the types of questions they asked.”

“This included everything from how high the crane was to how long it takes to build a building!

“We got the kids to dress up in some personal protective equipment (PPE) and explained the importance of staying safe and covered on-site. We even got them to stand as hard as they could on our steel cap boots to show off the durability and security our protective wear affords.

“Talking with the kids was such a rewarding experience for the whole team – it was especially gratifying to receive our fantastic thank you cards!”

Stay tuned for more updates about the hospital school, as we continue our visits with more representatives from the project team, over the next month.
