Looking for artists to transform new hospital building

Westmead Redevelopment’s Carla Edwards next to the new hospital building

The deadline is fast approaching for artists to submit expressions of interests for the Westmead Redevelopment Arts and Culture Strategy. The deadline is Saturday, 30 June 2018 and more than 80 submissions have already been received.

The Westmead Redevelopment project’s director of redesign and transformation Carla Edwards said: “our construction team has reached the fourth floor of our new building, so we’re starting to see its vast size take shape.

“With such an impressive building well underway, our search for artists is ramping up. We’re looking for artists who can create innovative, creative and remarkable pieces that have a real ‘wowfactor’ for the new spaces,” she said.

The Westmead Redevelopment project, in partnership with Western Sydney Local Health District, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and the University of Sydney, has created an arts and culture strategy for the new hospital building and refurbished spaces.

The project team is seeking expressions of interest from artists. Interested artists will become part of an arts directory and may be contacted for various arts commissions, currently planned for the new hospital building and some refurbished spaces.
