Early and enabling works were completed at Westmead from 2014 to 2017.
Much of this work took place behind-the-scenes and was comparatively less visible than the construction of our new car park or the works underway on the central acute services building. However, it involved significant and essential upgrades to the precinct to enable future construction and expansion. For instance - without upgrades to power, the precinct would have been unable to generate enough electricity to power the new central acute services building once completed. These critical upgrades included doubling the power supply to the precinct, new communications, gas, sewer and water mains and new cooling towers, as well as many other significant upgrades.
The early and enabling works project also included demolition, roadworks and new car parking.
Check out the link to the brochure and see the video below, which celebrate all of the achievements - including one of our early and enabling works contractors A W Edwards, who won the 2016 Master Builders excellence in construction site safety award for their work at Westmead.
