Westmead Hospital’s first new ways of working (NWOW) space – O3Hub – opened for business on 10 August 2017, with staff settling into the new space.
The O3Hub, which is located on level 3 of the Oral Health building, joins Blacktown’s B2Hub as the first work spaces in the LHD to be designed with activity-based working principles or NWOW.
The O3Hub is the new base for WSLHD’s finance, clinical governance and procurement teams.
Feedback on the hub has been positive, with staff already enjoying the space:
“It’s been fantastic so far – we’ve been able to set up and start working straight away” – Nirmal Raj Susai, finance.
“It’s very open and fresh; I think once we get settled it will be a great place to come to work every day” said Cathy Meyer, finance.
“It’s a much nicer environment to work in because it’s very open and bright. I like that there are different sections, so if you really need to concentrate on something you can go in the high-focus area. I also like the standing desks” said Joanne Han, clinical analytics and performance.
“This certainly sets the standard for what we’ll be delivering throughout the precinct. O3Hub is leading the charge for New Ways of Working (NWOW) spaces at Westmead,” said Leena Singh, director strategic business development & commercial services.
“It’s certainly an adjustment – we’re used to having our own desks and a certain way of working. But what we’re doing here in western Sydney is positioning ourselves to be agile and flexible in our work practices and to create a space that facilitates collaboration - we're embracing technology and we're improving health.”
“I want to thank everyone involved for working through this change—all of planning and preparing, including getting rid of all the paper from 1980 and beyond has been a fantastic accomplishment. Everyone should be proud of their involvement in the space that’s been created here and their commitment to NWOW. We are greatly looking forward to watching this innovative new space inspire and energise our staff working within it.”
A number of staff resources were developed during the project, to help staff get ready for the new ways of working (NWOW), which is an activitiy based working space.
