The future of Children’s health

Centrepiece of the Westmead Redevelopment, the new Central Acute Services Building (CASB) is the first facility in NSW to feature integrated health services for children and adults.

The 14-storey building will include a new Emergency Department, 32-bed short stay unit, expansion of operating theatres, satellite medical imaging and pharmacy specifically for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW).

CHW’s stake in the new hospital building, as well as the upcoming planning and design for Stage 2 of the Paediatric Services Building, will deliver new and expanded health services for our state’s children for decades to come.

“CHW Stages 1 and 2 represent a very significant change to how our Network operates. It’s a big change but one we are comprehensively preparing for,” said Cheryl McCullagh, Acting Chief Executive, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

Part of the Westmead Health Precinct, the CASB is a partnership between Westmead Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and the University of Sydney.
