Parking is at a premium on most hospital sites in metropolitan Sydney and parking costs at Westmead need to be equitable, but also sustainable. There must be balance between investing in car parking and investing in health service delivery.

A campus-wide car parking plan has been developed in consultation with staff and users. It considers the needs of staff, patients, visitors, emergency vehicles, on-call medical staff and other users.

More parking for Westmead

The long term plan for the Westmead Redevelopment is to ease parking stress by creating new car parking, working with Government to improve public transport and improving existing parking areas, roads and wayfinding.

The car parking solution has was jointly led by Western Sydney Local Health District, The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Health Infrastructure.

Maintaining parking during the Redevelopment

The project has committed to no net loss of car parking spaces during the Westmead Redevelopment.
